warm & cozy SOUP PARTY!
The second you feel that first cool breeze after a hot summer don’t you just crave some soup?! It’s the start of soup season as the temperatures begin to drop. Being from Texas they drop slower than other states. But I’m just over here manifesting the weather I want in the fall! Time to throw a soup party! But make your party a way of trying new soups and exchanging recipes. A soup pot-luck if you will. Have each guest bring their favorite soup to make or a new one they have been dying all summer to try. Or even one they love from a local restaurant! Not everyone has time to cook. So as the host make your own soup for everyone to try, supply a topping bar with the fixings and crackers and bread as well and make a delicious fall desert to end the evening with something sweet!
Tips for a successful party:
Create a Soup station! Use and island or cleared counter to display all the soups for guest to serve themselves. Laying down a tablecloth or even a plaid scarf below will help add warmth and texture to the set up.
Have your friends tell you in advance what soups they will be bringing to make sure you have a variety and don’t end up with 3-4 of the same. You can also use this info to create a menu card or board if you would like.
Use smaller mugs so guests can try various soups. Smaller serving sizes will allow for guests to go back and try more soup variety’s before getting full.
Supply stands for recipe cards to sit on to go next to each soup. makes a great way to label what each soup is and doubles as an ingredient list for any friends with food allergies.
As the host, supply your guests with a toppings bar to garnish their soups. Add things like parmesan, green onion, oyster crackers, sour cream, and shredded cheddar. Also place some crackers or bread on the table as well.
With the many soup flavors stick to simple beverages. No need for a mixed cocktail just serving wine and whatever non-alcoholic beverages your friends like is great.
Have paper towels or something at the ready by the sink for your guests to quickly rinse and dry their mugs between soups.
Last tip is end your meal with your favorite cozy fall desert. Whether it’s apple strudel, bread pudding, pumpkin pie, cinnamon or ginger cookies, it’s nice to make something sweet after all the savory soups.
Have your friends make up recipe cards not just to put next to the soup but one for each guest. Not only is it a way for guests to collect their favorite soup recipes of the night but doubles as a party favor!
